Jeremy's childhood was split between Baltimore, Houston, and West Hartford. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technology, majoring in commercial aviation and minoring in avionics. While there, he won a major award for analyzing the cause of a fatal air-crash involving two students and an instructor. He decided that a law degree would enable him to pursue interest in aviation safety.
Jeremy received his J.D. in 2001 from Hofstra University School of Law in Hempstead, New York. His passion for law led him to the Triangle, where he started Browner Law, PLLC in 2009. Since launching the firm, he has actively practiced across the state, given numerous legal courses, and served on a variety of boards and committees. As a solo general practice attorney in North Carolina, he has explored many areas of law, but found family law to be the most satisfying. Helping clients resolve the stressful and demanding issues associated with divorce and child custody is the best fit for his compassionate, humanistic, analytical, and tactical nature. Litigating complex family law cases, including winning an appeals case on behalf of a deployed soldier, has been the defining moments in his career.
This recent accomplishment involved the Deployed Parents Custody and Visitation Act and the rights of military service members in family law cases. In the appeal, Jeremy was able to overturn part of the trial court’s ruling that prohibited contact between a child and a stepmother. Read more about the case here.
His approach to every case starts in the office with a face to face meeting where he will discuss each clients' needs and goals. If legal research is not required, he will lay out an estimate of time, expenses, and risk associated with the clients' desired outcome. Jeremy has the unique ability to describe complex technical and legal issues in lay terms. His years of experience of flight instruction and giving legal presentations to the local legal community have allowed him to develop a variety of communication skills to counsel and collaborate with clients.
Jeremy prides himself in being a good listener, a candid adviser, and an intrepid advocate on behalf of his clients. He believes his objective nature and drive to get to the core of complex factual and legal issues makes him uniquely qualified to take on difficult legal challenges.
In addition to his legal experience, Jeremy is a passionate pilot and has been a flight instructor for many years. His primary hobby consists of volunteering for the Civil Air Patrol, where he has a variety of duties including organizing courses, flying missions, and serving as instructor pilot for primary flight training with cadets or training senior members for emergency service missions. Jeremy also serves on the board for Lerner School, where he advises the head of school and board in legal matters.
